Aspen Heights residents say homes are unfinished

Aspen Heights, the plagued student housing neighborhood located off of Highway 63 and Grindstone Parkway, is once again having problems.

In July, more than 500 students were told that they were not going to be able to move in on time and had to wait until Aug. 17.

Around 80 students are still waiting until phase four of the neighborhood is complete before they can move in.

However, for those that have moved in, they are facing a whole new set of problems within their homes. Resident told ABC 17 News they have had numerous problems including front doors not locking and floors not being finished.

“Our floor isn’t finished, and when we toured the club house, they said they were going to do it, but nothing has been done, so it may be another month or so,” says Jesse, an Aspen Heights resident.

Others say their doors to their rooms do not lock, water heaters are broken, walls have holes and one resident even said his house was built backwards.

“The back of our house is facing the front,” said Tony, an Aspen Heights resident. “It’s supposed to be a 180-degree reverse.”

A maintenance man told ABC 17 News that he averages about 100 calls a day from unhappy residents.
