Jefferson City hopes to expand Capital Mall
The City of Jefferson Public Works and Planning Committee agreed to forward Capital Mall’s expansion plans to the city council for a vote.
The mall is working with the city to create a community improvement district on mall property. The plans include 11 tracts that would house new businesses on the grounds.
Mall officials say they hope to bring in additional national retailers through this expansion.
Jefferson City resident Lena Haill is thrilled about the possibility of new stores coming to town.
“I definitely think it’s good,” she said. “I think it’s going to bring some new businesses and and I’m just excited to bring my kids and have some better shopping for Christmas stuff.”
If the City Council approves the plans, relative start and end dates for construction will be set.
