Motorcyclist killed in Camden County crash

A Camdenton man was killed Thursday after a crash on Old South Route 5.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, 42-year-old Gerald E. Roberts was traveling southbound on Route 5 around 3:45 p.m. when his motorcycle crashed into the towed unit of a tractor trailer.

Troopers say the tractor trailer’s driver, Laura L. Poole, 58, of Cape Girardeau, was making a left turn onto Route 5 from a private drive when the accident occurred.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene. Poole was not injured.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing safety devices.
