Two arrested in connection with July burglary

Columbia police arrested two more men in connection with a July 23 burglary in the 3200 block of Martha Drive.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Lamont Harris Tuesday afternoon on W. Worley Street. 18-year-old Martinez Demetrius Jackson was arrested shortly near the intersection of W. Sexton Road and Banks Avenue. Police say Jackson assaulted officers and tried to flee.

Harris was arrested for second-degree burglary, felony stealing and second-degree property damage. His bond is set at $9,500.

Jackson was arrested for second-degree burglary, felony stealing, resisting arrest, assault of a law enforcement officer, second-degree property damage and several failure to appear warrants. His bond is set at more than $16,000.

Police already arrested 19-year-old Ladame Smith for the burglary. Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are possible.
