Lawyer of downtown shooting suspect says she has evidence to prove his innocence

Eric Cravens is behind bars, accused of the shooting downtown on June 15 at 10th Street and Broadway.

But his lawyer, Jennifer Bukowsky, says she has evidence to prove he’s innocent, and she’s giving that evidence to the prosecutor and police so they can find the real shooters.

She is asking for a bond reduction or for Cravens to be let out of custody with electronic monitoring, and Bukowsky is requesting for a speedy trial.

She said the evidence includes proofs of alibi from eight witnesses and two separate surveillance cameras at Break Time and Taco Bell, verifying Cravens was nowhere near downtown at the time of the shooting.

“It’s unusual to give evidence this early in a case, but it’s a risk worth taking, and we’re doing it in good faith they will use it to find the real shooters,” Bukowsky said.

And Bukowsky says it’s important to find the real shooters as fast as possible, because they could be dangerous.

Cravens is set to be in court again on Sept. 11, but the date could be moved up if the request for speedy trial is approved.
