Three arrested in Jefferson City for heroin distribution

Police arrested three Chicago men for heroin distribution in the Capital City.

33-year-old Steven L. Dennis, 32-year-old Tatum Cater, and 23-year-old Gregory White were arrested earlier this week.

Police say Dennis has been identified as a “relatively high level” heroin distributor and is also a suspect in recent cases of heroin overdoses.

Dennis has been charged with five counts of a controlled substance. He is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Cole County Jail.

Carter and Wright were charged with the distribution of a controlled substance. They are in the Cole County Jail on a $100,000 bond each.

Police expect additional heroin-related arrests as the JCPD focuses on narcotics enforcement.

The department says overdoses in the city are down 60 percent compared to reported overdoses in 2012.
