Tractor trailer downs power lines in Columbia

A tractor trailer knocked down power lines on Rock Quarry Road in Columbia, causing emergency crews to shut down the road.

The Columbia Fire Department says the truck was traveling northbound on Rock Quarry near Rolling Rock Drive around 2:30 p.m. and became entangled in power lines. The truck also broke a telephone pole.

Crews from Boone Electric Cooperative and Mediacom responded to clear their respective lines from the tractor trailer.

According to CFD, the driver said he made a wrong turn and was trying to find his way back to the interstate when he hit the power lines.

No one was injured and the road has since re-opened.
