Sturgeon man charged with child pornography

Law enforcement arrested a Sturgeon man Monday on several charges of child pornography.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department investigators say Karl M. Ball, 41, was charged with first-degree promoting child pornography and the possession of more than 20 photos or one video of child pornography. Both are felony charges.

Investigators say last month, Microsoft Corp. informed the Sheriff’s Department that child porn had been uploaded to their servers from a network in the Mid-Missouri area.

The Cyber Crimes Task Force and Sturgeon Police Department searched Ball’s home on Monday and found over 1,200 child porn photos and about 20 videos of children engaged in sexual conduct.

Ball was arrested and taken to the Boone County Jail. He is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond and is not allowed to have any contact with any person under the age of 18.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, he was convicted in 1990 for sexual offenses against a minor in Oklahoma.
