Attorney General reaches settlement with defunct Mid-Missouri medical spa

The Missouri Attorney General announced Thursday that his office has reached a settlement with a defunct Mid-Missouri medical spa.

In a story ABC 17 News has been following for years, Laura Rackers, the owner of the former Skin Rx MedSpa & Laser Center, was accused of accepting payments for services then closed the business before completing those services.

Attorney General Chris Koster said his office received six complaints from consumers about the former medical spa and then pursued legal action.

Under the settlement, Rackers must pay $5,445 to the consumers. In addition, Skin Rx and Rackers agreed to refrain from claiming, demanding, charging, collecting or receiving any compensation or payment for services until those services have been fully performed.
