Man arrested for shoplifting and assaulting employees

Jefferson City police arrested man after he allegedly stole from a department stole and assaulted employees.

Officers were called to the Kohl’s store on Stoneridge Parkway around 4 p.m. Wednesday for a shoplifting in progress.

Police say Brian Carpenter, 31, of Jefferson City was trying to shoplift several t-shirts when store employees confronted him. Officers say Carpenter started to push the employees before they were able to detain him for police.

Officers arrested Carpenter on charges of robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had three outstanding warrants.
