Thomas pitches Mizzou to sixth straight Super Regional

Senior Chelsea Thomas pitched a one-hitter to get No. 6 Mizzou past Hofstra and into the NCAA Super Regionals with nine strikeouts in the 5-0 win on Sunday at University Field.

Thomas did not allow a walk in the win and improved to 24-4 in her final Tiger campaign.

Sophomore 1B Kelsea Roth and senior LF Nicole Hudson homered in the game to pace Mizzou on the offensive side of the game. It was the 16th homer of the season for each hitter.

Mizzou lost the first game of the day 10-0 in five innings with Hudson in the circle.

Head coach Ehren Earleywine wasn’t taking any chances in game two.

Missouri will host No. 11 Washington in the Super Regional round May 23-May 24 at University Field.

The Tigers take on the Huskies in a best-of-three series, with Thursday’s game set for 8 p.m. CDT on ESPN and the Friday game scheduled for 5 p.m. on ESPNU.

A third game, if necessary, would follow at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The Huskies went 3-0 in their own regional in Seattle, Wash., to advance in the tournament.
