University of Missouri baseball player arrested for assault and vandalism on campus

A University of Missouri baseball player was arrested for allegedly assaulting a student and vandalizing a building on the MU campus.

Officers say 22-year-old Gavin Stark threatened and assaulted a student Monday night outside the Reynolds Alumni Center and threw the student’s laptop on the ground.

Stark then allegedly threw a rock into a window at the alumni center to enter the building, where he damaged furniture. The center was scheduled to host an event Tuesday.

Officers told ABC 17 News they think Stark was drunk at the time. He allegedly pointed his fists at officers before trying to flee.

University of Missouri police arrested Stark on charges of second-degree assault, felony first-degree burglary, felony resisting arrest and property damage.

The Mizzou Athletic Department said the baseball team is aware of the situation and is still gathering information. Stark has been suspended indefinitely from the team.
