Missouri Department of Transportation to begin road striping this week

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Tuesday it will begin striping I-70 later this week.

The agency said striping with begin on I-70 Thursday then crews will start striping area roadways on Monday. Those roads include all major highways like I-70 and I-44.

MoDOT hopes to have the project completed by Memorial Day. Crews will stripe interstates and major roads during the day, then stripe roads within the city limits of Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, Lebanon, St. Robert and Rolla overnight.

The agency is asking drivers to be cautious around the striping trucks, since they drive much slower than regular traffic.

Drivers may have to slow down or pull around a striping truck caravan on highways or stay well behind the striping truck on single-lane roads.

If wet paint gets on your car, you are encouraged to wash your car as soon as possible.
