Fire damages Centralia garbage trucks
Both garbage trucks in Centralia were damaged by fire early Friday, and one is being considered a total loss.
Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 2 a.m. and found both trucks burning.
Police say the fire appeared to have started in the cab of one of the trucks, and that the doors of the cab were locked.
They aren’t calling the fire suspicious at this point, and no cause has been determined.
The damage to the second truck will have to be evaluated to determine whether it can be repaired and how much that would cost.
Because the two trucks are the only ones owned by the city, officials say Centralia residents can expect trash service to be affected.
