Jefferson City man threatens to shoot officers and blow up people

A mid-Missouri man is in jail and accused of threatening to shoot police officers.

Mark Balcer of Jefferson City was arrested this week after he called authorities, saying he had bombs in his yard and was going to blow up lesbians.

Balcer allegedly told friends he would kidnap and kill his case worker then commit suicide.

When Cole County Sheriff’s deputies knocked on Balcer’s door, they claim he also had a gun. A probable cause statement reveals Balcer hoped deputies would hit a bomb trip wire in his yard.

He is facing multiple charges, including making a false bomb report, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
