Russellvile schools raise needed funds for security improvements

Sunday,Russellville’sParent-Teacher Organizationhosted a pancake breakfast to raise money for new locks, doors andentrywaywith abuzz-insystem.

The middle and elementary school have been improving school safety since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, but looking to do more.

The PTO hopes to raise$4,000for the needed renovations.

Lastyear, itraised more than$3,000,using the money to donate books to the library.

School officials say student and teacher safety is at the top of their priority list and therenovations will helpthat.

Parents ofstudents atthe school agree.

Parentand PTOPresidentSarah Olgischleager stressed the important of the newentrywaywith thebuzz-insystem.

Her daughter is inkindergarten,which is the first classroom as you enter the school.

The pancake breakfastwithsilent auction is the biggest fundraising event the PTO hosts.
