Columbia cyclists train for CPR

Members of the Big Tree Bike Club in Columbia spent Sunday morning learning proper CPR techniques.

After one member’s close call in March, the club decided to partner with the Heart of Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross to provide the training.

“It’s very simple to learn and everyone should know,” said Cyclextreme store owner Tom Brinker. “Of course, because we’re active in the fitness community, we could help everybody in need and not just our members.”

ABC 17 News first reported former state Senator and Boone County prosecutor Joe Moseley had been on a bike ride with a couple friends, also club members, when he had a heart attack.

One fellow rider was CPR trained and has been credited with saving Moseley’s life.
