Missouri native breaks American hammer throw record at Tom Botts Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri native DeAnna Price set the American hammer throw record at the Tom Botts Invitational on Friday night.

Her throw of 78.60 meters is the top mark of any woman in the world this year. It's also the third longest throw in world history.

Price competed at the Tom Botts Invitational as a tune up for the upcoming Olympic Trials on June 23.

The 27-year-old won the gold medal at the World Championships in 2019. She placed eighth overall at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Price is from Moscow Mills, Mo. She was a two-time NCAA Champion at Southern Illinois.
