Columbia high schools ranked among best in state

A new study from U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday ranked two Columbia schools among the best in the state.

The report ranked Rock Bridge High School and Hickman High School as the 8th and 14th best high schools, respectively.

Nationwide, Rock Bridge and Hickman were ranked 957th and 1,328th.

According to the magazine, U.S. News & World Report and the American Institutes for Research evaluate schools on overall student performance on state-mandated assessments.

They also determine how schools educate minority and economically-disadvantaged students. The groups also took into account students’ performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.

No other schools in Mid-Missouri were ranked in the survey.
