Pedestrian hit by truck on I-70

A man was taken to the hospital early Monday after he was hit by a truck on I-70 east of Rangeline Street.

The semi truck hit the Nicholaus Braun, of Columbia, near the Paris Road overpass at 127.8 mile marker. The driver swerved to avoid hitting Braun, but clipped him near the passenger headlight.

According to a news release, it was not clear yet why Braun had been in the lanes of traffic and not on the shoulder.

He was taken to University Hospital and listed in serious condition as of Monday evening.

Excessive speed, alcohol or inattention by the driver are not believed to have been factors.

Robert Berst, the truck driver, voluntarily submitted to a blood test. Those results were not back yet Monday night.
