Royals take double header against Red Sox

The Kansas City Royals took on the Boston Red Sox twice Sunday, winning both games.

In game one, the Royals beat Boston 4-2 breaking the Red Sox seven-game winning streak. Ervin Santana pitched seven strong innings. He allowed only two runs on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

The Red Sox loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth, but former Missouri Tiger Aaron Crow got Jarrod Saltalamacchia to ground out. Greg Holland pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save in five opportunities.

The nightcap was scheduled after Friday night’s game was postponed because of the manhunt for a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.

In game two, Lorenzo Cain drew a walk with two outs and the bases loaded in the 10th inning to give Kansas City a 5-4 victory.

Kelvin Herrera (2-2) got the win, while Alex Gordon had three hits. Andrew Miller (0-1) walked Cain on four pitches to bring home Gordon for his third run of the game.
