Woman gets new trial in Cole Co. shaken-baby case
A woman convicted for her role in a shaken-baby case is getting a new trial.
Last month Shelley Richter was found guilty of endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from the injuries a young boy suffered in 2010 at her home daycare in Taos, outside Jefferson City. Richter was also found not guilty on the tougher charge of child abuse.
On Thursday, lawyers for Richter appealed that decision. The court approved the motion for a new trial, giving her a second chance in court.
The case was continued until June 5, when a council status hearing is scheduled.
