Deputies: Fulton man arrested for trying to have wife killed

Deputies say a Fulton man has been arrested for allegedly trying to have his wife killed.

Callaway County deputies say Michael Gordon attempted to hire someone to murder his wife.

The investigation started back in November 2012 and multiple agencies were involved.

Court documents show Gordon met with a confidential informant in October about the alleged hit on his estranged wife. The informant passed the information over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The documents state Gordon told the informant he wanted the death staged like a vehicle accident, but after meeting with an undercover MSHP officer, Gordon wanted the hitman to shoot her in the head.

According to officials, Gordon was willing to pay the hitman $2,000 and even paid a $40 down payment.

Gordon was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree assault. He bond is set at $250,000.
