17 suspects arrested for heroin in Jefferson City

On Friday Jefferson City police disclosed the results of a three-week operation aimed at heroin sales.

Officers and the MUSTANG drug task force held undercover deals that lead to numerous search warrants and arrests. Investigators seized heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, a gun and drug money.

Police and Cole County sheriff’s SWAT team went to eight homes. The locations include 10 Jackson Street, the 1600 block of Paddlewheel Circle, 3700 block of Randall Drive, 300 block of West Ashley Street, 400 block of Hutton Lane, 300 block of Washington Street, 1400 block of Elizabeth Street and 1600 block of Jefferson Street.

17 people were taken into custody, mostly for heroin. Officials think five suspects are higher level dealers. Those include Lamar Johnson, aka “Burner”, 31, from St. Louis, Chad White, aka “Slim”, 36, of Jefferson City, Mark Parker, aka “Markie”, 41, of Jefferson City, Elonzo Johnson, aka “Big Bear”, 42, from Jefferson City, and Augustus Armstead, aka “Cash”, 24, of Jefferson City.

This is the third drug sweep for the year, according to police, resulting in over eight arrests. More are expected soon.
