Public officials increasing safety after shootings
After the shootings in Texas this past weekend and Colorado last month, public officials in Missouri are taking security more seriously.
Both incidents concerned Boone County prosecutor Dan Knight.
“It’s something that kind of struck close to home and my heart goes out to thosefamilies. Thisperson probablykilledhim and his wife because of the job he held,” Knight said.
Knight held a meeting with the other employeeswhowork at the Columbia courthouse to discuss personal safety.
The number one tipdiscussed –being aware.
Cole County Sheriff Greg White shared the same message.
“People should always be aware of the circumstances that they arein, whatis going on around them and to payattention. Theyneed to listen and not be ambivalent about things that areinappropriate, and if you see something that is anissue, notify law enforcement,”White said.
