State of Emergency in Missouri

The strong winter storm prompted Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to declare a state of emergency Thursday. The State Emergency Management Agency, or SEMA, has been monitoring the storm since yesterday from its operations center in Jefferson City.As part of the declaration, the State Emergency Operations Plan also is in place. The protocol allows the state to work directly with local emergency officials.
