Man Arrested After Car Chase
Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Columbia man after he fled during a traffic stop Friday night.Deputies say they tried to pull over a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Daniel Peek near New Haven Road and Warren Drive around 9:40 p.m.. According to authorities, Peek did not stop and a vehicle pursuit occurred. Dispatchers say the pursuit reached speeds in excess of 70 mph at times before a deputy was able to deploy a tire deflation device near Rolling Hills Roads and Highway WW.As Peek’s vehicle stopped on Bower Lane, he tried to flee but was apprehended by several deputies after a short struggle.Peek was arrested on charges of felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He remains in the Boone County Jail with a bond set at $10,145.A passenger in the vehicle, Daria Littleton, 35, of Columbia was released from the jail with summonses for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
