SWAT Nabs Three in Drug Raid

***UPDATE SUNDAY 12:05 P.M.***Another Belle man, Joseph Fernandez, 26, has been charged after Saturday morning’s SWAT raid. Fernandez faces charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Maries County Jail Saturday night on $50,000 bond.Donald Green faced similar charges and was also being held on $50,000 bond.A third suspect was expected to be charged later.***ORIGINAL STORY***The Maries County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team entered a home Saturday and arrested three people for drugs, including one man who has been wanted by authorities on multiple outstanding warrants in several counties. Donald James Green, 29, of Belle, has been evading officers for nearly a year-and-a-half, said Sheriff Chris Heitman.Green, a felon out on parole for distributing controlled substance, is wanted in Jefferson City, Kansas City, Platte County, Pettis County and the city of St. James, said Heitman, who is expecting additional felony charges to be filed against Green. The arrest came in the morning hours Saturday after officers served a search warrant on 807 Highway 28 West near Belle. According to the sheriff’s office, officers found what appears to be controlled substances, packaged in a manner that is common for selling. The names of the other two suspects are not being released until they are formally charged. Those charges could be filed as early as the same day, according to Heitman.
