Murder Suspect Found Near School
***UPDATE 3:22 P.M.***Police put the school on lockdown after getting a tip a murder suspect from Illinois was at 1406 Risen Star Court.Officers set up surveillance outside the home and saw Larry Belk, 20, leave and return. The duplex to the right was evacuated, and nearby Derby Ridge Elementary was put on lockdown. Investigators also made sure the children who live at 1406 Risen Star Court were in school.The SWAT team found a woman parked in a car in the driveway and used a bullhorn to talk to Belk and another woman inside.After about 8 minutes, Belk and Porcha Marshall, 21, surrendered without incident.Belk is wanted for first-degree murder in Alton, Ill., outside St. Louis, on one million-dollars bond. Marshall was arrested on a city misdemeanor for not having a driver’s license, with a cash-only bond of $750. ***ORIGINAL STORY***A Columbia school was put on a modified lockdown Friday afternoon.Derby Ridge Elementary locked its doors, but only as a precautionary measure.
