Mail Vehicle Destroyed in Fire

A U.S. Postal Service vehicle and the mail it was carrying was lost after it caught fire on Tuesday.The USPS says the rural carrier vehicle and its contents were destroyed along Rural Route 1 in Smithton. Only 30 of the 420 deliveries were completed before the fire.Most packages were destroyed, along with medicines and prescriptions. Officials were able to salvage some letters and packages. Any with a readable address will be delivered.The mail carrier was not injured in the fire.The Postal Service is encouraging anyone along that route, who was expecting important documents, medicine or packages to contact their mailer. The last delivery happened at 24652 Arator Road.
