Roll Tide

(AP) – Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon gave top-ranked Alabama a pair of 100-yard rushers in the same game for the first time this season and the duo combined for five scores in a soggy, weather-delayed 42-10 victory over Missouri on Saturday night. The defending national champion Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0 SEC) led 21-0 late in the first quarter en route to their 10th straight victory, all by 19 or more points. They did just enough right after that to disappoint the few thousand fans who didn’t leave for good during a 38-minute delay due to lightning with the Crimson Tide awaiting the extra-point kick for a 28-0 cushion after Yeldon’s second scoring run with 8:40 to go in the half.MURPH STILL A BRIGHT SPOTMarcus Murphy returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, setting a Missouri single-season record with four kick returns for scores.Murphy broke the mark of three by John Moseley in 1973, two on punts and a third on a kickoff, on a jaunt that got the Tigers on the scoreboard in a game dominated by top-ranked Alabama on Saturday. The return came on the second play after the game resumed following a 38-minute delay due to lightning and cut the deficit to 28-7.Murphy, a sophomore, returned two punts for touchdown in the opener against Southeastern Lousiana and a third punt for TD against Central Florida. He scored on just his sixth kickoff return of the season, with wide receiver T.J. Moe getting that duty most of the year.THE BEST EVER?After the loss, Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel — not one to engage much in hyperbole — said on more than one occasion in the post game press conference that Alabama is maybe the best team he’s ever seen. Pinkel added that after watching tape of them all week long he could find no weaknesses on Nick Saban’s top-ranked team.
