Fulton Cops Arrest Nev. Fugitive

***UPDATE TUESDAY 5:25 P.M.***The process to send a fugitive back to Nevada is underway. On Monday, Fulton police picked up Alexander Rehmert in a park on warranted filed in Nevada.Police now say Rehmert fled Nevada after sexually assaulting a minor. Rehmert’s warrants include 21 charges for sex crimes, including at least one against a juvenile.However, during the investigation in Nevada, authorities say Rehmert fled to Mid-Missouri. In early August, he allegedly made a call back to Nevada and investigators traced his phone number to Missouri.The Boone County Cyber Crimes Task Force stepped in to help by reaching out to Fulton police.”They just wanted to interview him regarding the incidents in Nevada,” said Lt. Andre Cook of the Fulton Police Department. “We assisted them in finding him, we interviewed him and that report was sent to Nevada.”Rehmert also had an outstanding warrant in Callaway County for larceny.He remains in the Callaway County Jail with a bond set at more than $1.6 million.Nevada police say the investigation is ongoing. They would not disclose any more information, except to say they are in the process of getting Rehmert extradited back to the state.***ORIGINAL STORY***Fulton police received information Monday about a Nevada man, wanted for sex crimes charges in that state, was living in Fulton. Alexander Marcus Rehmert, 23, had active warrants for his arrest from Mesquite, Nevada. Those warrants listed 12 counts of sexual assault and nine counts of sexually motivated coercion, with a total bond of over $1.6 million.Rehmert also had an active warrant for failure to appear on a larceny charge in Callaway County, with a bond of $500.Fulton police officers gathered information on Rehmert and canvassed the area near Veterans Park. Officers found Rehmert and took him into custody without incident.
