Man in Jail for Assaulting Cop

The suspect in a Columbia shooting last year is now facing more charges for allegedly assaulting an officer on Sunday.Police say Lamont Boone, 19, of Columbia was a patient at a local hospital. Cops say Boone began throwing things and threatening to spit or throw urine on hospital staff.When Boone refused to cooperate with staff and began spitting at them, staff put a spit shield on him. According to police, Boone started to eat the spit shield and then spit on an officer in the room.Boone was arrested on charges of third degree assault of a law enforcement officer, felony warrant for failure to appear on a weapons charge, felony warrant to appear on an assault charge, and felony warrant for burglary. He remains in the Boone County Jail Monday evening.
