10/30: Sandy’s Impacts
Hurricane Sandy made landfall near New Jersey Monday evening. The storm created extreme weather conditions across the East Coast including:- heavy rains in excess of 6″ – wind gusts higher than 100 mph- storm surge higher than 10 feet near New York City- blizzard conditions in West Virginia with up to 3 feet of snow possibleClouds from the storm will drift as far west as eastern Missouri with gusty winds, rain and some flurries possible for Indiana.Our weather pattern for Mid-Missouri will remain stagnant with a northerly flow through Wednesday, keeping our temperatures below average (highs in 50s, low in 30s). As Sandy moves east Thursday, warmer temperatures will push into Mid-Missouri. Highs will reach the 60s Thursday through Saturday.
