Murderer Appeals Conviction
A Columbia murderer appealed his conviction in front of a panel of judges Wednesday.A jury convicted Travis Midgyett of murder and robbery for the 2006 shooting death of Carlos Kelly. Prosecutors say Midgyett and three other men were involved and that it was a robbery centered around cocaine.A judge sentenced Midgyett to 45 years in prison.On Wednesday, the Missouri Court of Appeals head his case at Lincoln University. The appeal was open to the public and afterward, the judges answered questions about the appeal process in general.There is no word yet on when the judges may decide the appeal.
