Tire Company Catches Fire

Fire crews from three Chariton County departments responded to a large fire early Sunday morning at Chariton Tire, LLC in Salisbury.Salisbury Fire Chief Chris Sturm told ABC 17 News crews responded around 6:44 a.m. to the business on West Highway 24. When they arrived, flames were showing from the building.As of Sunday afternoon, crews hadn’t found a cause or estimated damages to the business. The State Fire Marshal had been called in to conduct the investigation because Salisbury’s department is too small to have it’s own investigators.About 50 firefighters from Keytesville, Huntsville and Bynumville joined the Salisbury crews at the scene. Sturm said the blaze was under control by about 10 a.m. and crews left the scene just after 2:30 p.m.
