Columbia PD dispatch shows nearly 100 shots fired, heard calls this year

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to Columbia Police's Dispatch, the department has responded to 98 shots fired and shots heard calls in 2021.

In addition, Columbia PD have also been dispatched to 13 robbery calls so far in 2021.

Of those, 27 shots heard and shots fired calls have come in March with four robbery calls over the same period.

This, after police responded to a home invasion Friday, where EMS eventually pronounced the intruder dead at the scene.

In a pinned Tweet, Columbia PD reminded residents to lockdown and lock up valuables.

The department also advises using any outdoor lighting or motion sensor lighting outside of your home.

CPD says it is also important to ensure your garage is closed every night and not to leave work tools unsecured.

Residents should also check to make sure all valuables are taken out of the car, especially firearms.

Columbia PD says if you see something suspicious, say something. Residents can call either 911, or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477).
