Man Gets 30 Years for Robbery

A man was sentenced an October 2011 robbery and assault in Jefferson City.Demetrius Boyce, 26, will spend 30 years in prison for robbing and shooting a man on Lafayette Street on October 6, 2011. A jury found Boyce guilty in July of first degree robbery, first degree assault and armed criminal action.Prosecutors say Boyce knocked on the victim’s home saying he had been involved in a traffic accident nearby. The homeowner offered to take the man to the scene of the wreck. While on the way to the accident, the Boyce showed a gun and demanded the victim take him to an ATM. Investigators say the victim told the man he had to go back to his home to get his ATM card. Back at the home, the man ran to his home to call 911 and Boyce fired at the victim, hitting him in the leg.
