Insight into Dixon’s Suspension

The mystery behind the suspension of Mizzou Basketball’s senior Mike Dixon might be revealed soon. The social media world lit up overnight Friday when Dixon’s former Tiger teammate Kim English took to Twitter, sending out three tweets about Dixon’s suspension. First, English called the University of Missouri’s “Student Board” a joke, saying, “Thank God we have an amazing Chancellor who I trust will make the right decision soon. And do what’s right by reinstating Michael Dixon Jr.”Dixon has been suspended this entire season, including the Tigers’ exhibition opener back in October. The team has told ABC 17 News all along he’s not in trouble legally, or with the NCAA. Beyond that, the team has been vague on the reasons why the senior is not playing.English’s comments support the notion that Dixon has been punished by the University’s Office of Student Conduct, which handles complaints against students. The office’s website details that it can suspend and even expel a student. That punishment can be appealed to the university’s Chancellor, which English alluded to being the next step.On Tuesday, November 20th, ABC 17 News made an open records request of any actions taken by the Office of Student Conduct against Dixon. That request was denied late Wednesday afternoon with the university citing federal privacy laws.Mike Dixon sent out a tweet late Friday night after the Tigers’ loss to Louisville writing, “Our team fought hard. I wish I could b out there helping them. I’VE DONE NOTHING WRONG!”Dixon’s post was later deleted.
