Mike Dixon Accused of Rape

***UPDATE WEDNESDAY 12:45 P.M.***ABC 17 News contacted the University of Missouri and the Chancellor’s office for a statement regarding Mike Dixon’s suspension. The university would not comment on the issue, however, the News Bureau did provide the following statement, which has been abbreviated:”The university cannot comment on individual students records according to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, which is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of students’ educational records… Every MU student is expected to comply with the university’s standard of conduct as outlined in the university’s Collected Rules. When any student is accused of violating the university’s standard of conduct, he/she is subject to the Rules of Procedures in Student Conduct Matters. This process is in place to insure that the requirements of procedural due process will be fulfilled by the university.During the informal process, an informal investigation will be conducted by The Office of Student Life’s Judicial Coordinator Donell Young. Mr. Young has the authority to make a determination and to impose appropriate sanctions or to move the matter to the formal stage.During a formal process, a Student Conduct Committee, composed of faculty and students, will be appointed by the Chancellor and will have the authority to impose sanctions which may range from a warning to permanent separation of the student from the university (expulsion).When a charged student is expelled, dismissed, or suspended from the University by the Committee, the student may appeal the decision stating the reason reasons for appeal in detail to the Chancellor within ten calendar days after notification of the decision of the Committee.The Chancellor shall review the record of the case and the appeal and may affirm, reverse, or remand the case for further proceedings and shall notify each party in writing of the decision of the appeal. The action of the Chancellor shall be final unless it is to remand the matter for further proceedings.”***UPDATE WEDNESDAY 10:30 A.M.***ABC 17 News has obtained the police report detailing the rape accusation against Mike Dixon.In the 45-page report, the accuser told police she was sexually assaulted on August 20th at the accuser ‘s apartment. The report details the alleged incident as well as numerous pieces of evidence investigators collected. Text messages between the accuser and Dixon are also included.The report also states that a CPD officer learned on September 5th that on either August 22nd or 23rd, an attorney had contacted the University of Missouri’s Athletics Department. The department was reportedly aware of the incident and had known about it since the week it was said to have occurred.On November 16th, Boone County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tracy Gonzalez closed the investigation due to “insufficient evidence to file criminal charges.”Read the full report by clicking the link below. Some details may be graphic.***ORIGINAL STORY***ABC 17 News has confirmed Columbia police investigated University of Missouri guard Mike Dixon for an alleged rape.Boone County Assistant Prosecutor Tracy Gonzalez said her office received a report from the Columbia Police Department in which Dixon was accused of rape.The prosecutor’s office decided not to proceed with the case, citing a lack of evidence.Gonzalez told ABC 17 News that police performed a thorough investigation and that the case was handled in the same manner that all sexual assault cases are handled.Dixon has been suspended from team since the beginning of the season for breaking what the university called “team rules.” The team has told ABC 17 News Dixon is not in trouble legally or with the NCAA.On Tuesday, November 20th, ABC 17 News made an open records request of any actions taken by the Office of Student Conduct against Dixon. That request was denied with the university citing federal privacy laws.
