Shortage of Flu Shots

Flu vaccines are in short supply in Cole County and it’s causing some people to panic. The Cole County Health Department said their phone is ringing off the hook as people try and find out whether they have enough flu shots or not. The department only has 15 doses of flu shots left after starting in the morning with 40 doses, said Marie Peoples, an official with Cole County Health Department. A man who got one of the last doses of flu shots said “I just don’t want to have to be one of those ones that has to worry about it, also I don’t want to get anybody else sick,” said Jacob Katnik. Peoples said although their supplies are limited, it’s not a bad sign, “that means people are coming in and getting their flu shots as advised.”She adds that they order as many flu vaccinations as they can, but depending on the severity of the flu season, their supplies may run out. The Cole County Health Department said they will replenish their supplies as soon as possible, “We’ll have a new batch in, probably by Monday afternoon at the latest.”
