Slick Roads Expected
Car accidents due to slick roads have been reported throughout Mid-Missouri Saturday evening as rain and snow mixed — creating one of the most hazardous driving conditions, according to MoDOT. The Missouri Department of Transportation called in road crews at 3 P.M. after hearing the storm will push through sooner than expected. They began in the northern portion of Howard and Boone counties that saw precipitation around 2 P.M., pre-treating roads before the anticipated snow. They plan on following the storm that is expected to head south and treat roads toward the I-44 corridor. Crews in Jefferson City had a different approach. They’ve decided not to pre-treat roads because they’re expecting the rain to wash it away but did call in their full staff. They plan on having all 22 snow plows out working the roads, and may work overnight to keep the roads clear in the morning.
