Hosier Murder Trial Delayed
***UPDATE FRIDAY 8:17 P.M.***David Hosier will face trial in front of a jury from Cass County, picked in April, and then brought back to Jefferson City to hear the case. Jury selection began earlier this week in Clay County — but the Cole County prosecutor says they were unable to get enough qualified jurors and had to delay the proceedings and start over. The trial is expected to last two weeks. ***ORIGINAL STORY***The murder trial of a man charged in a 2009 double murder in Jefferson City has been delayed.David Hosier, 57, is charged with two counts of first degree murder in Cole County Circuit Court and faces the death penalty. He is accused of killing a couple in September 2009. He was later captured in Oklahoma after the murders.Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson says the trial will be delayed until further notice. Jury selection began in Clay County on Tuesday, however, the court was unable to find enough qualified jurors. Richardson says a new court date and new county will likely be picked later this week after meeting with lawyers from both the prosecution and defense.The murder trial is expected to last two weeks. Jurors serving during the trial will be sequestered.
