Road Construction On Stadium
The Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Columbia are working together on various road construction projects to improve road safety in Mid-Missouri.Among the list of projects will be Stadium Blvd., which continues to be an issue in Columbia due to increasing traffic demands.”That means we are going to add capacity to Stadium Blvd. and create a directional diamond interchange,” said MoDOT area engineer Mike Schupp. Construction on the project will begin next week.According to MoDOT, the project will cost around $15 million and will end in late fall of 2014.Another concern was the new Battle High School, and city officials are worried about Route Z and its access to other area roads.MoDOT says a new three-lane overpass will be created, St. Charles Road will be widened, and a new round-a-bout will be built .According to city officials, safety for the students is their main priority.
