Jefferson City and Cole County public works departments have had plow drivers working around the clock since the snow started falling on Sunday.

Larry Benz with the county public works department said they have used more than 1,000 tons of salt between Sunday and Monday. Britt Smith with the city said they used more than 500 just on Sunday.

"It's been an expensive storm," Benz said.

Both departments plan on having small teams work overnight and have full crews return Tuesday morning.
