Trump’s legal team to present defense as impeachment trial continues
WASHINGTON (KMIZ)
Donald Trump's defense team is set to present its arguments on Friday as the impeachment trial continues.
It comes a day after the House impeachment managers rested their case urging the Senate to convict Trump of inciting a deadly riot at the US Capitol on Jan. 6.

After the House impeachment managers concluded their arguments, members of the defense team met with top Republican senators. Sens. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina, Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas were seen going into a room Trump's lawyers were using to prepare for their arguments.
One Trump lawyer, David Schoen, said the senators were familiarizing themselves with the impeachment procedure.
Over two days, the impeachment managers played videos and audio recorded during the insurrection at the Capitol and clips from campaign rallies Trump held leading up to the presidential election. The managers said the former president inflamed his supporters for months and brought them to the Capitol in order to stop Joe Biden's confirmation hearing.
Lead impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin (D - Maryland) said in his final remarks "all of us who aspire and attain a public office are nothing but the servants of the people and the way the Framers would have it, is: The moment that we no longer act as servants of the people but as masters of the people, as violators of the people’s rights, that is the time to impeach, remove, convict, disqualify, start all over again." At the end of his speech, Raskin asked the defense how it would explain why Trump didn't stop the attack sooner.
