The Missouri State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to avoid westbound Highway 54 near Holts Summit.

The patrol said westbound 54 was closed Wednesday morning because of a crash.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash reports the driver of a 2008 Saturn traveled off the right side of the road and Oscar Harper overcorrected and hit a tractor-trailer.

Harper was taken by EMS to Capital Region Medical Center with minor injuries according to the online report.

The Missouri Department of Transportation's traveler information map showed Highway 54 as partly covered in snow and ice from Interstate 70 south. Several Mid-Missouri highways still had some level of snow and ice cover, according to the map.

Highways leading into and out of Jefferson City were among the most covered in Mid-Missouri, according to the map. The cover led to the Jefferson City School District canceling classes Wednesday. Mexico Public Schools decided to dismiss early because of ice on the roads, according to an email from the district.
