Mass vaccination event to begin at Faurot Field Thursday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MU Health Care's mass vaccination event is set to begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
It's part of a larger event taking place Thursday and Saturday at Faurot Field. Each day, officials with MU Health Care are aiming to vaccinate 2,000 people, for a total of 4,000 vaccinations. Appointments will be held from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on both days.
“Our vaccination site at the football stadium provides an efficient, convenient and safe way for the public to receive the vaccine. We are honored to play a key role in the state’s public vaccination effort moving forward,” said Chief Clinical Officer Stevan Whitt.
MU Health Care used an online survey to determine eligibility for the vaccine.
Appointment invites were sent out to those who filled out the survey and identified as meeting eligibility for Phase 1B Tier 2.
Eric Maze with MU Health Care said appointments on Thursday have been filled and slots are almost full for the event on Saturday.
"There will be no empty appointment spots or wasted vaccine," Maze said.
Those arriving to get vaccinated are being asked to enter on the east side of the football stadium at 600 E. Stadium Blvd.
Signage and parking attendants will provide direction to parking lots and entrance to the vaccination site.
MU Health Care will check photo identification during registration.
MU Health expects a similar allocation of vaccines the week of Feb. 15 and will send out invites to survey respondents.
