Sedalia mass vaccination site gives out over 2,300 doses of coronavirus vaccine
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Sedalia vaccination site ended Saturday with a total of just over 2,300 people getting their COVID-19 vaccine over the past three days.
The Bothwell Regional Health Center and the Pettis County Health Center hosted the event at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The Missouri National Guard also helped out with the event.
According to Hannah Sartin, Marketing Director for The Bothwell Regional Health Center, there was a great turnout for the event and overall feedback was "very positive."
"For the most part, everyone we've talked to has been very grateful that vaccination appointments were available within our community and really hoped to see the future and just getting back to normal," Sartin said.
In order to be eligible to vaccination, individuals had to pre-register for the event and fall under Phase 1-A, Phase 1-B Tier 1, or Phase 1-B Tier 2.
Sartin said the vaccination site moved efficiently and most people only took around 25 minutes to get through the entire thing. This 25 minute time period also included 15 minutes of observation time after a person received their Pfizer vaccine.
The site had 10 stations set up so they were able to have 35 people scheduled to get their vaccine every 15 minutes at the clinic.
According to Sartin, appointments for patients second dose of the vaccine were automatically scheduled for three weeks out. Bothwell Regional Health Center plans on offering more clinics based on their incoming supply of vaccines.
"At this time we plan to continue to offer vaccines to our community as we receive vaccines. Just like this mass vaccination, all vaccines will be be by appointment only and no walk-ins will be available," Sartin said.
As of Saturday, the Missouri COVID-19 dashboard states just over 378,000 people have gotten at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and almost 2% of the entire population of Missouri is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
