Tracking a windy Thursday with a chance at some showers

THURSDAY: A cold front is on the way into mid-Missouri. Some widely scattered showers will be possible throughout the day. You’ll know the front’s here when the winds pick up with gusts up to 35 mph possible. Temperatures will get held up in the middle 40’s.

TONIGHT: The initial surge of showers will move east, but another lobe of moisture will rotate in. This round looks to stay north of I-70, but could start to mix in or change over to snow. It’s not expected to lead to any impacts as lows crash down into the low 30’s.

EXTENDED: Our low responsible for all of this will drop south Friday, bringing snow to the area. It looks to move in early in the morning and will keep the snow showers around all day long. The wind-driven snow will reduce visibilities and will start to add up by the afternoon. A pretty widespread inch could blanket mid-Missouri by the time this wraps up late Friday night. A few bands of locally heavier snow look possible, where totals could push into the 2-3” range. Saturday looks dry but pretty dreary with the wind refusing to let up. Wind chills will hover around 20 all day long. We warm up slightly Sunday, but we’re tracking a disturbance that could bring another shot of rain and snow to the viewing area. Temperatures look to recover into the low 40’s next week.
